Excursion d’une journée à Essaouira

We will depart Marrakech at 8:30 AM and head in the direction of Chichaoua, with a short stop in Sidi Al Mokhtar. Along the way, we will pass by many argan tree plantations and stop at a women’s cooperative producing the precious argan oil, giving you a chance to appreciate this unique local crop.

Essaouira is an ancient port city on the Atlantic coast, located 180 km from Marrakech. It is renowned for its excellent windsurfing and kitesurfing beach.

The city has a rich history, with around 70,000 inhabitants, and is a beloved destination recognized by UNESCO. The old city is surrounded by walls that date back to the period of Portuguese occupation. Essaouira’s corniche is exquisitely beautiful.

Another unique site is La Scala, located just minutes away from a charming café that caters to lovers of Gwana music. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will have the chance to explore the medina, famous for its crafts such as woodworking, inlay, leather, copper, and Souiri crafts. You can also visit the fish and spice markets, bustling souks, and relaxing cafés.

After a full day of exploring Essaouira’s treasures, we will return to Marrakech around 7:30 PM.
